In 2023, we pivoted mid-YC into a category nobody believed in. A hundred and eighty investors rejected the pitch with the same line: phone calls won't exist a year from now. Isaiah slept on a closet floor in San Francisco.
We spent every dollar we had on GPUs, then $600,000 more, because the only way to build voice AI that actually works is to build the whole stack. Wrappers around someone else's models were never going to be enterprise-grade. Latency would always lose to the layers underneath.
We were right. A $60,000 billboard later, Bland hit $2 million in ARR in four months.

Voice, LLM, text-to-speech, speech-to-text. All in-house. The bet on GPUs was the bet that you can't shortcut this. Every API call you don't own is latency. Every model you license is a model you can't fix. Our stack is the stack we're accountable for.
